It can be used as a ring flash (1/100 of a sec) with 7 brightness adjustment settings. Or you can set it so that only 1/2 of the 32 led's goes off for some directional lighting. Also you can turn it on steady for macro video use and again you can choose to have only 1/2 the led's. The only thing I would caution is to be careful when you attach the adapter ring to your lens - they are plastic, not metal. I don't know how tough they are but if you're careful, you won't need to find out. Again - I think this unit is an exceptional product and worth $42.
