Everything fit snugly to the lens with the included adapters. While easy to remove the light from the adapter, they do not separate when setting the camera down. As seen in the insect photo I uploaded, which was shot about 1" from the subject using extension tubes, the shadows are very soft and the light is acceptably even. If you want to have some fun without spending hundreds of dollars on a ring flash, this is a great deal. Bonus points for including an power adapter!

So if you point your camera down, the flash comes off. There is no way to secure the flash to the lens. A major obstacle to taking micro photos if the flash is going to fall on the bug! The only way I can think of securing this is to use tape and there is no way I am going to tape my very expensive lens. I am trying the Macro Ring Flash LED Light sold by New Harbor, also made by Neweer. $34 but the rings are metal, and actually screw into your lens and the rings attach to the back of the flash. A much better way to go.

There are seven (7) light intensity settings, and you can set it on continuous light, flash, or just left side or right side flash. The brightest light setting lit up my whole room even with my lights off. I was at first very confused by the power not turning on, but when all else fails, read the instructions; it says to hold it down for a full two seconds, but I think it actually took more like 3, but all the same, it did turn on. On the subject of the instructions though, they're very badly translated, and it was a bit of a pain to try to read them, but there was nothing so complicated that I couldn't understand what it said. It does, however, state specifically NOT to use it with any other camera besides a NIKON, not a CANON as advertised on this page. However, I have never heard... Read more
