10 of 10 people found the following review helpful Great budget flash!, January 5, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: YongNuo YN-468 II E-TTL Speedlite With LCD Display, for Canon 50D 40D T1i Xsi XS (Electronics) I'm a relatively inexperienced but enthusiastic photographer with less than 6 months experience. I used this flash mainly with a Canon T2i and the Tamron 28-75 f 2.8
This is my second yong nuo flash. My other one is a 560 all manual flash. I decided I needed TTL after seeing a few totally ruined photos that would've been perfect if I had remembered to change my output with my zooming.
I really like the TTL. I like the fact that you can take the flash +/- 3 Exposure Bias to drop down into the fill flash category.
The AF assist beam makes the price alone worth it. Are you tired of your DSLR 'hunting' for focus in dark situations? The laser grid this thing projects is extremely useful. To test how smart it was I went into my bathroom turned all the lights off and the beam made the camera grab focus in roughly the same time it did with the lights on.
The quality of light is very clean and the head articulates for all the necessary... Read more
8 of 9 people found the following review helpful Decent flash on the cheap, January 12, 2012 This review is from: YongNuo YN-468 II E-TTL Speedlite With LCD Display, for Canon 50D 40D T1i Xsi XS (Electronics) I bought this guy on ebay about a year ago, but since there aren't really any reviews on Amazon, I figured I'd share.
Pros:
- ETTL (I generally don't use this feature)
- Full zoom head
- LCD display
- adjustable power levels
- Built in optical slave(I usually use radio triggers)
- Built in multi-shot mode (slightly reduced power for more shots per charge and more rapid triggering)
- Built in bounce card
- Fully articulated head.
- metal shoe (less fragile)
- Batteries last about 500 shots.
Cons:
- Occasionally it shuts down. It's not totally broken, it just means I have to start it back up. It doesn't happen often enough to warrant returning it and it seems to happen when the battery is low (but not dead, I measured the batteries with a battery meter, and the flash continued to charge in a reasonable amount of time). Maybe I should change the batteries more often. Not sure if this is because of... Read more
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful Excellent Value!, April 10, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: YongNuo YN-468 II E-TTL Speedlite With LCD Display, for Canon 50D 40D T1i Xsi XS (Electronics) I was a little skeptical that this device would work as advertised. After all, it's only a hundred bucks, and the real Canon deal is closer to triple that..
A very pleasant surprise - a drop in replacement, fully functional in ETTL-II mode. While i've not tried multiple flash units, or remote triggering, everything I have tried is terrific!
Two suggestions for the 80 per cent (?) of us that want a reliable flash for the family portraits, birthdays, kids' sports events and the like : first - find a real book on the Canon unit. It will teach you all you want or need to know. Second, buy the ten foot ETTL sync cord, to get the strobe off the camera body, and add some depth to you photos...
A great buy for the photographer on a budget!
