Yongnuo YN-565 EX TTL Flash Speedlite Canon 5D II 7D 30D 40D 50D 350D 400D 450D Reviews
18 of 19 people found the following review helpful It's no 580EXII, but it's no slouch either., September 20, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Yongnuo YN-565 EX TTL Flash Speedlite Canon 5D II 7D 30D 40D 50D 350D 400D 450D (Electronics) I generally shy away from third party products unless they are proven performers; both through consistent high reviews, and positive real world reports. I was taking a bit of a risk with this flash. It's brand new on the market, there are very few reviews out there, and almost no real people have them in hand to test with yet. But... Given the high number of relevant features (especially Canon compatible E-TTL II, and E-TTL wireless slave), high power (only slightly lower than a 580EXII), and low cost; I was willing to take a chance.
Overall, I'm not even remotely disappointed. It's no 580EXII, but considering I can get three of these for about the same cost, I'd rather have these.
I purchased a Janco External Flash Battery Pack for Canon 580EX, 580EX II, 550EX, 540EZ, MR-14EX, & MT-24EX Speedlite Flash Units... Read more
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful I suppose I expected high speed sync., March 25, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Yongnuo YN-565 EX TTL Flash Speedlite Canon 5D II 7D 30D 40D 50D 350D 400D 450D (Electronics) Unpacked this flash the other day and have only just started messing with it. I picked this strobe up for use with my Canon speedlites. I shoot manually vs. TTL and control all of my speedlites with Pixel King triggers. I've had no issues syncing my Canon speedlites up to 1/4000th of a second (though I typically shoot between 400th and 500th in broad daylight)and I guess I expected this flash would be at least comparable. Sadly, on it's own the 565EX will not sync past 250th without that troublesome "black bar".
I bought the 565EX primarily for fill in and to place in front of my larger soft boxes at minimal power for a hint of gleam in my catch lights and I think it will still work out... My Canons will still provide more than enough light at any sync speed and the 565EX will still provide what I need it to. I guess I had just hoped that Hi-speed Sync would be an option.
All in all, I think the 565EX is fairly well built for what it is and will prove itself valuable but if... Read more

When my two Canon 550s stopped working after a few years of use, I decided to get non-Canon flashes because I could not afford two Canons at the same time. I purchased three Sunpak 383s before they were discountinued. I shot countless weddings with my Sunpaks with great success.
The Sunpaks lacked the TTL capabilities of my Canons. So i started looking around for other possible inexpensive solutions. A friend recommended the YongNuo brand. I purchase this unit with high hopes that it would be a great replacement for a Canon which I do not have a budget for.
I just shot a wedding this past weekend. The flash performed well until it stopped working in a critical moment in the wedding. I quickly switched to my trustee Sunpak and finished the work.
When I had a minute, I opened the flash battery compartment to see what was going on. To my surprise the batteries were so hot I could barely touch them. I replaced the batteries... Read more
